You've Booked Your Senior Photo Session, What do you Wear?

Senior Session Style Guide: Comfort, Confidence & You

OUTFITS: EXPRESS YOURSELF

When planning your wardrobe, think variety and authenticity.

Dress it up:

Bring a mix of looks, maybe a long, flowy dress and a shorter, playful one. Dresses photograph beautifully and add movement to your images.

Be you:

Choose an outfit that represents your true personality. Whether that’s jeans and a cute top or your favorite sundress, it should feel like you.

Rep your next chapter:

College gear is a great addition. It’s such a fun way to celebrate what’s next!

Color choices matter:

Think about how your outfit complements both your skin tone and the location. For desert sessions, neutrals, jewel tones, browns, and rust oranges always look amazing against the natural landscape.

Accessorize:

Don’t forget details like hats, belts, or layered jewelry, they can add texture and style to your photos.

Fit is key:

Comfort and confidence go hand in hand. Wear clothes that fit well and flatter your body type.

Undergarments:

Make sure your undergarments work with your outfit (no visible straps or lines).

Shoes:

Bring options! Cute shoes for photos and comfortable ones if we’ll be walking a lot between locations.

If you’re not sure what to wear, create a Pinterest board to gather inspiration or reach out to your photographer (that’s me!) for feedback and ideas. Your vision for your session is the perfect starting point.

Below I have included a few examples of past Seniors.

HAIR, MAKEUP & NAILS

Think polished, not overdone.

Your hair and makeup should enhance your natural beauty. If you’re hiring a professional, consider doing a trial run so you feel confident about your look. Make sure your nails are neat and clean. Whether you go with a fresh manicure or a neutral polish, your hands will appear in more photos than you think!

PROPS: TELL YOUR STORY

Don’t forget the little (or big) things that make you you!

Whether it’s your musical instrument, your car, a sports uniform, or any other prop that tells your story, please bring it along. These personal touches make your session even more meaningful and uniquely yours.

COME PREPARED

Having a parent or friend join your session can be a huge help — they can assist with outfit changes, makeup checks, and making sure everything runs smoothly.

Bring along a few essentials like a brush, lipstick, hairspray, bobby pins, or safety pins — you never know when you’ll need a quick fix. The more prepared you are, the smoother and more fun your session will be!

This session is all about you — your story, your personality, and the incredible person you’ve become. Take time to prepare, plan your outfits, and show up ready to enjoy every moment. These photos will be memories you’ll treasure for years to come — and I can’t wait to see what magic we capture together! ✨
